Partnering to Create Change.

We believe in something radical: every family should have access to as many clean diapers as they need. Hygiene products should be as available as fresh water and sunlight. We created the Brooklyn Diaper Project to raise awareness of the critical issue of diaper need to facilitate positive, enduring change.

We believe that we must move beyond the status quo of how diaper need is currently tackled in our society, which relies on the continued strength of traditional diaper banks that distribute diapers that were once made with corporations and profits in mind. We have seen that, despite the continued growth and success of diaper banks, diaper need only grows worse. To achieve true solutions, we must break past these tired models and imagine something new.

We recognize that distributing diapers won’t solve the glaring inequities of this system. While we work toward solving diaper need, we efficiently distribute some of the most environmentally conscious diapers on the market to local organizations who work hard to support NYC’s most underserved families.

PARTNERSHIPS WITH ORGANIZATIONS

At the Brooklyn Diaper Project, we believe in the power of active teamwork to change the system for the better. Our organization works by partnering with existing 501(c)3 organizations to change the conversation about diaper need and diaper availability. We have a growing waitlist of organizations interested in receiving support, and we prioritize organizations that demonstrate the most potential to actively partner with us in eliminating diaper need.

Even if we aren’t able to provide diapers to your organization at this time, there are a few alternative ways we can help:

  • Write to us an email at diapers@mooregood.org (include your district number). Tell us how important this project is to you, including testimonials from families you work with about what having an adequate supply of diapers would mean to them. We can share your feedback anonymously with your representative on your behalf. City leaders won’t make change if they don’t hear your stories- we have to bring the conversation to them to insist on change, and that conversation starts with you.

  • Identify a local business (boutique, bookstore, bodega) near you that wants to support your interest in receiving community diapers. Ask them if they’d be willing to sponsor a drive or a diaper hub. We can work with this business to set up a diaper hub at their location to foster community engagement and contribution. Email us at diapers@mooregood.org to get started.

  • Have something else in mind? Email us at diapers@mooregood.org- we’re always eager to build new, creative ideas.

INDIVIDUALS IN NEED OF DIAPERS

We distribute pallets of diapers to organizations that serve families through their programs and cannot distribute diapers to individual families. This helps us keep costs down and efficiency up. Please refer to our partners page for a list of organizations that can help.
