We believe in kelp.

We’re here to help build the future of seaweed on Long Island.

We believe in community. We can’t think of a better way to care for our neighbors in these unprecedented times. Our aim is to help Long Island grow this incredible sea green, bridging the gaps we see on the road to seaweed becoming a viable source of nutrition, innovation, and job growth for our neighbors.

We believe in research. We see an opportunity to help New York cultivate this beneficial sea plant, and research is a vital step on this journey. We don’t need to look far- mariculture expertise can be found in abundance all over Long Island. We aim to promote efforts in a way that is unified, open, and collaborative. We’re excited to partner with growers, towns, and research facilities that are all working hard to better understand kelp and its potential.

We believe in kelp. We think kelp is one of the most effective ways to care for one another - it’s the single most important thing we can think of to promote forces of good for our waterways and each other.

Kind to ourselves

Seaweed is wholly rich in vitamins and nutrients--it's one of the greatest natural gifts available to our bodies, both inside and out. We believe it should be easily available to all American families; on plates, for pets, as skin care, and in gardens as fertilizer.

Kind to each other

This project bolsters both the local Long Island economy as well as the national American economy on multiple levels. We support the farmers and processors of the kelp industry from seed to final product.

Kind to the earth

Kelp protects our shorelines and marine life. It forms the earth's "second lung" as it sequesters carbon more efficiently than trees, it restores biodiversity in our waters, and it scrubs the water from our nitrogen polluting habits. We could go on.
