Partnership With CAMBA

Brooklyn Diaper Project and CAMBA Continue Partnership for 3rd Year to Help Alleviate Diaper Need Around NYC Organizations Dedicated to Reducing Diaper Need and Helping Families

BROOKLYN, NY – Brooklyn Diaper Project (BDP) and CAMBA, a non-profit agency that provides services that connect people with opportunities to enhance their quality of life, recently signed an agreement to continue to help alleviate diaper need in and around New York City. BDP, a project by The Moore Family Charitable Foundation, is dedicated to providing as many children as possible with clean diapers.

Diaper need is an often-invisible need experienced by one in three children in the United States. Clean, dry diapers are essential for babies and children to participate in daycare and early education while parents work. Without diapers, parents are unable to work, and children are unable to learn. BDP and CAMBA aim to help eliminate this cycle through their continued partnership.

To date, the partnership has served more than 2,000 families in Brooklyn, providing more than 81,000 diapers to diaper-aged children.

“By continuing to partner with CAMBA, the Brooklyn Diaper Project is able to reach even more families in need of diapers. Diaper insecurity contributes to health issues and developmental delays in babies, as well as parental anxiety and depression. That’s why we are thrilled to continue to work with CAMBA,” said Wendy Moore, Executive Director for The Moore Family Charitable Foundation and the Brooklyn Diaper Project.

Moore continues, “Until the nation sees either a nonprofit corporation devoted to distributing diapers, or city government providing necessary support like SNAP and WIC benefits to ease the burden of diaper cost, it’s up to nonprofits to carry the torch–that’s why partnerships like this are especially critical.”

“Our partnership with Brooklyn Diaper Project has been a lifeline for the mothers we serve,” said CAMBA President & CEO Joanne M. Oplustil. “Receiving these generous donations of diapers over the last two years has enabled our clients — who are on a very limited income — to focus on taking care of their babies instead of the stress of affording basic necessities. By lifting that burden, Brooklyn Diaper Project has tremendously helped these women as they navigate motherhood and create a happy, healthy life for their families.”
